Albert N. Martin on Female Modesty

Al Martin

Ladies (and men) are exhorted to listen to this challenging message, in which Pastor Martin sensitively, but firmly, addresses the issue of increasingly immodest dress among the female members in his congregation. Pastor Martin highlights some common abuses in dress among Christian women:

1. Short skirts.

2. Trousers which reveal the shape of the buttocks and thighs.

3. Tops which hug the breasts.

4. Bare mid-rifts.

5. Skimpy T-shirts which, when a lady sits down, reveal her back and expose her underwear.

6. Unbuttoned blouses (which make men wonder what they could see if another button was undone).

7. Long-slits in skirts.

If you are a Christian women who does not want to cause others to stumble by the way you dress, then please take time to listen to Validating the Gospel in Modesty.

Thanks Daniel – The thing about Sermon Audio is there are too many good sermons to listen to. I like one to be recommended.

The emotion he displays reveals how concerned he is.

    Summary:

“Purity of motive does not affect your appearance”

    Very sobering and convicting.

    Thanks again.

  3. No problem Elaine. Al Martin really instructs with a pastor’s heart, he was not out to embarrass anyone, just instruct them in righteousness.

I have listened to this sermon and feel all young women and mothers of girls should listen to this sermon.

A good book to read is Lies young women believe by Nancy Leigh De moss.

  6. And fathers and husbands as well.

  7. You may be interested in these sermons by OPC minister Bill Shishko on Christian modesty (been a while since I’ve listened to it, but I recall it being handled wisely and insightfully):

I can imagine that book recommended above is very good, I’m in the middle of De Moss’s Lies Women Believe. Excellent book.

Hi, if anyone is interested in more sermons by Pastor Martin many are being posted at EternalLifeMinistries.org. Along with Martin Lloyd Jones, he will probably be remembered by saints of the future when they look back upon our generation (unless the Lord comes back of course). If you are tired of milk-of-the-word fluff, listen to this gift of Christ to our needy generation.
